How to lower electricity bills and save money

 

There are many ways by which any one can lower his/her electricity bill. Here I have collected some of the ideas which can save money by saving use of electricity.

·       Use solar water heaters instead of heating the water through electric heaters or gas geezers. The initial cost of the solar water heating system is high but the operating cost is zero and the payback period is generally around 5 – 6 years. That means after 6 years you will get hot water without any cost.

·       Use CFL bulbs instead of the regular tungsten bulb. These fluorescent bulbs operate on lower voltage and consume very less electric power as compared with the old generation bulbs.

·       Always shut down the computers, laptop and TV sets when not required. Generally many people power off their screen and lock the computer but in that case CPU is still running and consumes some amount of energy as compared with total shut down. Hence when we are not using our computers still the computer uses electricity and will cost us.

·       Always shut off the lights when not required. Many times peoples were sitting in one room and lights from all rooms were still on. I don’t understand this behavior because if you are not in that room then who is using the light? Hence whenever you have to stay in that room then only switch on the light bulbs.

·       Before purchasing air conditioners always decide our requirement. You can go for split ac or for central ac. Both have different purposes. Hence if you have many rooms for cooling then go for split ac by which you can turn off cooled air supply of any particular room when not required. Always discuss all aspects with the service engineer before purchasing any electronic appliances.

·       Do not run refrigerator on no loads or on partial load conditions. This will unnecessarily consumes more electricity than actually required.

·       Try to use non conventional power sources than conventional sources. Try to go for utilization of solar energy, wind energy, hydraulic energy whenever possible.

·       During purchasing or building new home, try to get benefit of natural wind circulation. These natural air circulations will lower your air conditioning bill. In many places where there is good amount of air flow most of the times air conditioners not required.

·       Use solar panels for street lighting and garden lightening.

·       Always purchase energy efficient products. This not only reduces energy bills but also reduce burden of energy supply of Nation.

·       If you have your own industry or workshops then perform energy audits regularly. Energy audit discovers the opportunities available for improvements. By using the inputs from energy audits we can run industry with optimum power consumption.

How to attract bird to your house

Since from my childhood I was a big big and very big fan of Nature. Always I looked for getting attracted the birds to my home. Recently I shifted my home along with family to a new location. Here I found birds of different species and colors but the problem was that the density of trees in this area is very less. Hence it is very difficult to attract birds to our homes.

Then I have decided to provide artificial nest so as to improve chances of getting selected by the birds. Then I was searched for different kind of material available in my home. When I collected all those they includes number of cups, bottles, card board and thermocol.  There is no any solid thing that can be used as nest so I decided to use thermocol and make a nest.

The thermocol body is just like a box, I have made one small hole at one place through which bird can enter in the box. Then on the projection of window I place that box such that its open end faces downward and place one big brick on it so that wind cannot fly it away.

Then many days passed and at one day I saw one Indian robin wondering around my home. I saw that black bird continuously fly over my terrace. So I decided to keep watching the bird’s activity and then I knew that the Indian robin selected my thermocol box as his nest place. After that one another black bird joins him. She is his partner. Both of them continuously collected grass sticks to build nest. After some days she lays egg in it. But unfortunately due my exams, I can’t watch all those activities in those days.

Then I saw the pair continuously collecting food that means their eggs incubates and small babies were comes on the earth. But I don’t know exactly what happens.

Today I become little bit free and found 3 eggs in the nest. I think Indian robin again laid eggs.

These are white in color with black and red dots.

World Environment Day - 5th June

World Environment Day (5^th June)

 

Hi friends,

Tomorrow all World will celebrate the ‘World Environment Day’. Now a day’s awareness regarding nature conservation is increasing in many countries. My friends, actually we have to take care our environment daily 24X7 but then why to celebrate such events? I think the answer is, by celebrating such occasions we are giving awareness between our worldwide friends who are not very close to nature. By celebrating World Environment Day we are focuses attention of more peoples on Nature preservation.

Now come back to point, I also want to take advantage of this Environment day to give more awareness among net users.

Now let me know how will you celebrate World Environment Day? Regarding my contribution to earth, I will plant 3 trees which I have already grown from seeds. Around one week before I was sowed seeds in a small soil pot. Now 3 plants were sprouted from bunch of seeds and tomorrow on the occasion of World Environment Day I will planting those trees on back side of my house. Also I have decided to grow some bulk quantity of trees like Neem in small bags and will plant those around the roads and empty spaces around my society in near future.

·       Providing water and food for Birds.

·       Providing artificial nest for birds.

·       Installing solar equipments for electricity, water heating and cooking.
